BELLY AND BELLY BUTTON LIPOMAS
Lipomas on the abdomen are not uncommon, however, lipomas on the extremities appear to be more frequent. The goal of lipoma removal on the abdomen is to produce as few and inconspicuous scars as possible. The reason for this is that the anterior abdominal region is a very aesthetically important area of the body, especially in young people. On the other hand, a person's age should not be a reason to be more generous with the distribution of surgical scars.
In the photo example, a 27-year-old patient had inherited a tendency for lipoma development from his mother. He had a large lipoma directly above the navel and an additional one in the left mid-abdomen, which was too far from the navel to be removed through it. The endoscopic removal of the large lipoma through a - well-hidden - navel incision was a certain challenge, but was successful. The problem was a much longer subcutaneous tunnel than expected. The mid-abdominal lipoma could be removed through a separate, short, and inconspicuous skin incision. The patient was very satisfied with the result.

The scars on the abdomen, 4 weeks postoperatively.
The lipoma defect cavity, filled with fat using endoscopy, still shows some bulging of the abdominal skin, which will resolve later.
The very fine surgical scar was well concealed inside the belly button.
