AXILLARY LIPOMAS – SURGERY PHOTOS

Photo 1: Intraoperatively, it turned out to be not a single lipoma, but a massive conglomeration of numerous lipomas of varying sizes.
Photo 2: Even during the dissection, the loose conglomerate of lipomas fell apart quite easily.
Photo 3: The removal of the third and largest partial lipoma extended into the mediastinum (the space between the lungs where anatomically the heart and major blood vessel branches are located). We endoscopically observed down to the beating aortic arch. Cutting was not the approach here; only extremely cautious, blunt dissection was performed, as all nerve and blood vessel structures for the right arm were in front of us.

Photo 4: The "cleaned out" blood vessel and nerve pathways of the right arm within the armpit. The patient experienced no postoperative deficits in the arm area.
Photo 5: The postoperatively spread-out conglomerate of lipomas. The lipoma in the upper left originates from the mediastinum. The ruler measures 25 cm in length.
